Vilsa-Brunnen , ( proper spelling : VILSA ) [ fɪlza ], is a mineral fountain company based in Bruchhausen-Vilsen in the district of Diepholz ( Lower Saxony ), 35 km south of Bremen . The company is run by the fourth generation of the Rodekohr family. The spring was discovered in Bruchhausen-Vilsen in 1909. The entry in the commercial register took place in 1912.

The product portfolio of the Vilsa brand includes mineral water products as well as numerous soft drinks. The natural mineral water is available with different carbonic acid levels in the varieties classic , medium, lightly pearly and natural as well as naturally flavored mineral water. In addition, fruit spritzers, wellness drinks, vitamin-fruit juice drinks and lemonades are sold. According to its own information, Vilsa was the market leader in northern Germany in 2017 and delivered over half a billion products per year, 80% of which were mineral water. Around 500 million bottles are filled in the production facility every year.

In a comparison test of 30 medium water brands by Stiftung Warentest, Vilsa came off second worst in 2017, as the testers devalued the product, which was delivered in plastic bottles, due to a clear plastic taste. Stiftung Warentest had already issued similar criticism in 2014 ("Only Vilsa is sensory deficient this time, it tasted strongly of plastic"). In July 2019, the 0.75l PET returnable bottle Vilsa naturelle received the results of "very good" (1.0) and "good" (1.6) for all verifiable laboratory values from Stiftung Warentest in the section "The great water check" , the overall grade was devalued by the taste grade. Also in July 2019, the Öko-Test rated the Vilsa classic variety in the 1l PET returnable bottle in their mineral water test (no. 07/2019) with the grade "very good".

Since 2019, Vilsa has been using 100% recycled PET (rPET or PET recyclate) and recycling labels for one-way bottles. Vilsa has also been offering a product with an organic mineral water seal since 2019. This stands for stricter limit values than prescribed by law and environmentally friendly processing in the entire production process.

The company acts as a sponsor for the soccer club SV Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV and in 2010 supplied another Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund .
