VIM Airlines ( Russian ВИМ Авиа ) was a Russian charter airline based in Moscow and based at Moscow-Domodedovo Airport .

history

VIM Airlines was founded in 2002. It took over twelve Boeing 757-200s from Condor in 2004 , making it the first Russian charter airline to operate with western aircraft.

On September 25, 2017, VIM Airlines ceased charter flights due to financial problems. The reason was also a regulation of the supervisory authority, according to which a reserve machine of every type of aircraft must be available at all times. Many flights had already suffered massive delays months earlier. When the charter flights were discontinued, regional governors worked to ensure that the subsidized flights to be carried out in the interior of Russia could be maintained for a few weeks at least for a short time. The commitments were upheld until mid-October 2017.

Destinations

VIM Airlines primarily offered national and international charter flights from its home airport in Moscow-Vnukowo . In addition to charter flights with a focus on summer destinations in the Mediterranean, the line flew to remote cities in the Far East of Russia on subsidized flights.
