Vadamarachchi
Vadamarachchi ( Tamil : வடமராட்சி Vaṭamarāṭci [ ˈʋaɖəməraːʈʂi ]) is a region on the Jaffna Peninsula in the northern province of Sri Lanka .
The Vadamarachchi region occupies the northeastern part of the Jaffna Peninsula and has an area of 296 square kilometers. Vadamarachchi is separated from the regions of Valikamam in the west and Thenmarachchi in the south by the Vadamarachchi lagoon . To the northeast lies the coast of the Bay of Bengal . The largest city is Point Pedro . Administratively, Vadamarachchi belongs to the Jaffna district and comprises the divisions Vadamarachchi East, Vadamarachchi North and Vadamarachchi South-West. The population is around 96,000 (as of 2012).
