The KORSÅN , built in Falun in 1902

The Vagn- & Maskinfabriksaktiebolaget Falun was a Swedish engine and locomotive factory . The subsidiary of Stora Kopparbergs Bergslags AB was founded in Falun in 1899 .

The machine factory was taken over in 1918 by AB Svenska Järnvägsverkstädera , based in Linköping , but manufactured machines and locomotives under its own company name until 1943. A total of 277 steam locomotives were built between 1901 and 1943 .

From 1906 to 1907 the workshop tried unsuccessfully to introduce a Pielock superheater with construction number 53 and the superheater and Lentz valve control in Sweden with numbers 59, 60 and 70 .

A turbo superheater from our own development, similar to the Schmidt superheater , was used in 1908 for construction number 92. In 1910, Falun built the first Swedish steam storage locomotive with construction number 104 , which was then used in its own factory premises.

Electric locomotives , diesel locomotives and freight cars were later manufactured in the workshops .

Locomotives from the early days of the company, such as No. 21 from 1902, the KORSÅN used on Bergslagets kommunikationsled belonging to Stora Kopparbergs Bergslags AB , are still there today. This locomotive is on the Jädraås – Tallås Järnväg museum railway .
