The Vahsel Bay is a bay in the southeast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It lies between Wirik Bay and Cape Vahsel .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009 based on the naming of the neighboring cape. Its namesake is Richard Vahsel (1868–1912), captain of the expedition ship Germany in the Second German Antarctic Expedition (1911–1912) led by Wilhelm Filchner , who died during the research trip.
