Val des Dix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Val des Dix is a side valley on the south side of the Rhone in the canton of Valais in Switzerland . The valley is the upper part of the Val d'Hérémence and begins at the dam of the Lac des Dix and extends to the Cheilon Glacier (Glacier de Cheilon) at the foot of Mont Blanc de Cheilon . The Dixence torrent flows through the valley and later flows into the Borgne . Legend has it that the name comes from a battle against 10 (dix) Saracens .
