The Mont Blanc de Cheilon is a 3870 m high mountain in the western Valais Alps . It is located west of the Pigne d'Arolla near the Italian border. It forms the head of the Val des Dix . The mountain has an imposing north face, at the foot of which the Cheilon Glacier arises from two branches.
The Cabane des Dix (2928 m) to the north or the Cabane des Vignettes (3158 m) to the east are ideal as a base for an ascent .
Summit routes
The normal route to the Mont Blanc de Cheilon goes over the Col de Cheilon (3243 m) and the west ridge (at the end point II ) to the summit.
It is also worth going over the east ridge, with a descent over the west ridge. To do this, climb over the eastern branch of the Cheilon Glacier to the Col de la Serpentine (3547 m) and from there over the east ridge (II-III) to the summit.
In winter you can climb the Mont Blanc de Cheilon with touring skis. You also go over the west ridge, but set up a ski depot and walk the last few meters to the summit.
