Valentin Knobloch (born May 5, 1980 ) is a former German judoka .

Career

Knobloch started judo as a child. He later started for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In 1993 he entered the German U15 Championship in Wiesbaden and won the title in the class up to 60 kg. A year later he secured his second junior title in the same position in the class up to 65 kg. In the following years he won various medals at U18 master tournaments, including silver in Bremen 1997. In 1999 he secured two victories in the U20 in Besançon and Bremen in the 81 kg class. In November of the same year he started at the U20 European Championship in Rome and won the bronze medal there. Shortly afterwards he switched to the adult sector. On February 26th, 2000 he started in Munich for the first time in the Judo World Cup and finished third. However, it remained his only World Cup start. At the German Championships in Riesa in 2000 , he won bronze. He repeated this success in 2001 in Hamm . He had previously competed successfully at the 2001 European Judo Championships in Paris and only failed in the semi-finals. In the end, he took fifth place in the up to 81 kg class. At the German Championships 2003 in Leipzig Knobloch started for the first time in the class up to 90 kg and won his first and only national title. In 2004 he won bronze at the British Open. In the national championships in October of the same year, he was fifth. In 2007 he finished second at the German Championships in Neuhof and won silver. On November 20th, 2008 Knobloch played his last international tournament and won the Masters Open Gelsenkirchen in the class up to 100 kg.
