Valentina Marchei (born May 23, 1986 in Milan ) is an Italian figure skater who started in individual skating until 2013 and has been skating in pairs since then .
Life
Valentina Marchei is the daughter of Marco Marchei, a long-distance runner who competed in the 1980 and 1984 Olympics. She studied sport at a university and worked as a reporter for Italian television. She started figure skating in 1993, her first coach was Cristina Mauri . Later she was also trained by Pierre Trente. Marchei injured his knee in 2007.
From 2008 she worked with Nikolai Morozow, where she missed most of the 2008/09 season due to an ankle injury. At the European Championships in 2010 , she finished tenth. In the same year she returned to the Grand Prix series. The following year she finished tenth again at the 2011 European Championships . Her new coaches were Jason Dungjen and Yuka Sato, with whom she trained in Detroit. In 2012 she reached eighth place at the World Championships in Nice and in 2014 she took part in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she finished eleventh.
In July 2014 it was announced that Marchei will form a figure skating pair with Ondřej Hotárek from now on. Your trainer is Bruno Marcotte. In the same summer Marchei had another knee injury, from which she soon recovered and became Italian champion with Hotárek. At the European Championships in 2015 , they almost made it into the medal ranks, in the end it was enough for fourth place. At the World Championships, however, it was eleventh.
Valentina Marchei and Hotárek finished sixth in pair skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
