Valerian Bernard Freyberg, 3rd Baron Freyberg (born December 15, 1970 ) is a British peer and artist .

life and career

Valerian Freyberg is a son of Colonel Paul Freyberg, 2nd Baron Freyberg and Ivry Perronelle Katharine. He attended Eton College in Berkshire and Camberwell College of Arts , where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1994. In 1993 he succeeded his father as Baron Freyberg .

Freyberg is a freelance artist, having obtained a Master of Arts degree from the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London from 2004 to 2006 .

When the House of Lords Act 1999 came into force , Freyberg and almost all other hereditary peers lost their automatic seat in the House of Lords . However, he was elected as one of 90 hereditary peers who still have a seat and vote in the House of Lords.

He has been married to Harriet Atkinson since 2002. The couple has a son who is also the heir to the title.
