The singer Monica Stucchi (born May 28, 1963 in Milan , Italy ) became known as Valerie Dore , but she did not sing the famous hits from the 1980s herself, but only mimed them in front of the camera and in public via playback. The songs from the only studio album The Legend were sung by the singer Dora Carofiglio , then a singer in the Novecento group and later by Simona Zanini . Only later did Stucchi sing songs herself (previously as a background singer, among others) with moderate success.

Life

When she was 15, Dora Carofiglio sang American folk songs with friends in bars in Milan . In 1984 she made her breakthrough - but only as the voice for Mimin Monica Stucchi, who appeared as "Valerie Dore". The first single The Night was a success all over southern Europe and also in the top 10 in Germany and Switzerland. With the single Get Closer sung by Monica Stucchi , Stucchi alias Valerie Dore was able to build on the success and had her own musical style, which was called Romantic dance was created. With her third single It's so Easy , which was released in late 1985, Stucchi had already reached the peak of her success. In 1986 their first album, The Legend , was released, which was inspired by the legend of King Arthur . The fourth single Lancelot also made it into the Swiss Top 10 and was her last chart hit in Germany.

In 1987 Monica Stucchi, who continued to appear as the face of Valerie Dore, had significant differences with her producer Roberto Gasparini , who wanted to push the artist more in the direction of pop and house . However, the singer did not agree and wanted to record a new album in London with producer Ralph Ruppert . However, it was still contractually bound to Gasparini, who then terminated contracts with radio and television.

In 1988 Stucchi married her new producer and manager Mauro Zavagli and produced a new single: Wrong Direction , which however did not make it into the charts outside of Italy. In 1991 she moved to Madagascar for some time to record an album with a national group. However, this project was never implemented. Then Stucchi ended her musical career as Valerie Dore.

In 2003 The Night was covered by the German band Scooter .

Stucchi appeared again in 2007 as Valerie Dore with "her" hits on Italian television.
