Valerie Seisser

Valerie Seisser (born December 31, 1862 in Würzburg ; † 1953 there ) was a German nurse , superior at the Red Cross in Würzburg and co-founder of the Red Cross Clinic in Würzburg.

Life

Seisser came from a Würzburg patrician and merchant family. She was the daughter of the doctor Franz Karl Seisser. Although her father's family had been in the cloth trade for generations, there were several family members in medicine and research. Her mother was a daughter of the systematist Valentin Leiblein . Her brother Rudolf Seisser also became a doctor.

Since women were unable to study medicine, Seisser trained as a nurse in Munich . Munich Red Cross Sisters in Würzburg had been working in poor and baby care since 1898. Returning from Munich, Seisser, together with her cousin Philipp Seisser and other members of her family, such as Michael-Philipp Seißer , who was the vice-president of the Bavarian Red Cross women's association for Northern Bavaria, played a key role in founding the Würzburg Red Cross Clinic.
