Valerie Ziegenfuss
Valerie Ziegenfuss (born June 29, 1949 in San Diego , California ) is a former American tennis player and the daughter of basketball coach George Ziegenfuss . She had been a professional tennis player since 1970. In the same year she founded with the players Billie Jean King , Rosie Casals , Nancy Richey , Kerry Melville , Peaches Bartkowicz , Kristy Pigeon , Judy Dalton and Julie Heldman , known as Original 9 , the American women 's tennis association , now known as Women's Tennis Association (WTA) is known. In 1968 she won Olympic bronze in women's doubles.
Ziegenfuss now lives in San Diego . After retiring as a professional player, she was a tennis instructor before starting a real estate company. Her daughter Allison Bradshaw was also a professional tennis player for several years.
