Valerio Jovine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Valerio Jovine (* 1975 ) is an Italian reggae musician from Naples .

Jovine was the voice of the hip-hop reggae troupe 99 Posse for a long time . The band rapped in Italian as well as in Neapolitan . Almost all songs have a sociopolitical reference and on their CDs there is a "Political Price" (Don't pay more than ....).

99 Posse's first album, Curre Curre Guagliò , was released in 1993 and was mainly influenced by reggae and world music . Cerco Tiempo (1996) and Corto Circuito (1998) took up drum 'n bass and trip hop elements. Curre Curre Guaglio was recorded and distributed itself and thus achieved cult status. It appears in the film "Sud" by Gabriele Salvatores . 99 Posse has her own label, Novenove , which only produces underground artists.

In 2015 Jovine released Parla piú forte (Eng .: "speak louder"), his seventh album. Unusually, he took part in "The Voice of Italy" in 2014 and became better known outside of the reggae scene. He covered Like a Virgin by Madonna in reggae style.

Jovine has a daughter, of whom he also sings on Parla piú forte .
