The Vallülasee is very remote in impassable terrain northeast of the mountain Vallüla ( 2813  m above sea level ) in the Silvretta , in the southern Montafon ( Vorarlberg / Austria ), in the municipality of Gaschurn .

The lake is located on the northern flank of the Vallüla on the Of da Budina pass landscape , which leads to Tyrol on the Sonnenberg des Kleinvermunt , at around 2150  m , and can only be reached on foot. In the north and northeast it is dominated by the sag ridge .

The mountain lake is fed and drained by the Upper Vallülabach shortly after its source. The Upper Vallülabach in turn flows over the Vallülabach (combined with the Untere Vallülabach coming from the Bielerspitze ) and the Verbellabach and then into the Ill .

The lake is located in the greater Vallülatäler biotope (No. 11020) of the Vorarlberg biotope inventory .
