Vermunt in the Montafon
Vermunt glacier with Vermunt pass

The Vermunt , also known as Fermunt , is a valley landscape in Tyrol and Vorarlberg .

The Großvermunt includes the rear Montafon in Vorarlberg in the municipality of Gaschurn , the Kleinvermunt the rear Paznaun Valley of Tyrol near Galtür . The two valleys are connected by the Bielerhöhe ( 2037  m above sea level ) and lie between Silvretta and Verwall , including the Vallüla ( 2813  m above sea level ). The lower part on the Vorarlberg side is also called Swiss Vermunt . The Graubünden document book documents the Alps on Zeinis, in the Verbellatal , on Vallüla and in Vermunt as early as 1089 .

On the Tyrolean side, the eponymous Vermunth (Vermuntbach) leads to Trisanna and Inn .
In Vorarlberger Vermunt the Ill drains to the Rhine , here is also the Vermuntwerk in Partenen with the Vermunt reservoir and the Obervermuntwerk e with the Silvretta reservoir , two high-pressure storage power stations of the illwerke vkw ( power station group Obere Ill-Lünersee ) .

The road from Galtür to Partenen, the toll Silvretta High Alpine Road (part of the B 188 Silvrettastraße ), runs over the Vermunt and Bieler Höhe . The Vermuntbahn , a cable car, leads from Partenen to the Tromenier mountain station.

To the south - on the Vorarlberg side - towards the Piz Buin , the Ochsental branches off, the lower section of which is flooded in the Silvrettasee. At the end of the Ochsental there is also the Vermunt Glacier , and with the Vermunt Pass ( 2798  m above sea level ) west of the Dreiländerspitze, a high alpine transition into the Val Tuoi of the Lower Engadine .

After the valley and the pass, the Silvretta was formerly known as the Vermuntgruppe (Vermunth group) .

Individual evidence

  1. According to the Alpine Club division of the Eastern Alps , the border from Partenen to Galtür over the Zeinisjoch (1,842 m) is drawn in such a way that the Vallüla still belongs to the Silvretta group. The Bielerhöhe is then completely in the Silvretta group, and thus also the Vermunt.
