The Ochsental is a high alpine valley in the Silvretta , in the extreme south of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . At the southern end of the valley, the Ochsental Glacier and Piz Buin ( 3312  m above sea level ) are the highest areas in the state and the source of the Ill , Vorarlberg's second longest river. In the lower, northern part of the Ochsental, the Ill is dammed up by illwerke vkw AG to form the Silvretta reservoir .

At the southern end of the Silvretta reservoir that formed by the Klostertaler Bach branches Klostertal southwest from the Ochsental. The northern part of the Ochsental near Bielerhöhe is completely covered with water for most of the year thanks to the Silvretta reservoir. The actual Bielerhöhe ( 2021  m above sea level   ), which was originally located in the Ochsental, has also disappeared under the dammed water. ! 546.9169175510.0995835

The Wiesbadener Hütte is located in the Ochsental at the foot of the Piz Buins, from which tours into the surrounding mountains are often started. Politically, the entire Ochsental belongs to the municipality of the Montafon municipality of Gaschurn .

At the southern end of the valley, above the Grüner Kuppe, lie the Vermunt Glacier and the Ochsental Glacier, as well as the peaks of the Dreiländerspitzgruppe ( Dreiländerspitze ( 3197  m above sea level ), Piz Jeramias ( 3136  m above sea level ) and Piz Mon ( 2982  m above sea level). )). On the eastern ridge that borders the Ochsental, the Vermuntkamm , the Rhine-Danube watershed runs to the Bielerhöhe. The western ridge of the lower Ochsental towards the neighboring valley of the Swiss Vermunt (Kromerbachtal) is formed by the northern ridge of the Litzner-Sehörner group with the Lobspitzen ( Hintere Lobspitze 2873  m above sea level ) above the lake. The ridge between the upper Ochsen- and Klostertal are the foothills of the Silvrettastock, the Schattenspitzen ( [Große] Schattenspitze 3202  m above sea level ), the Schattenkopf and the Egghorns ( Klostertaler Egghorn 3120  m above sea level ). This group is also glaciated (Schattenspitz glacier, snow bell glacier).
