The Valois is a landscape in northern France . It lies in the region of Hauts-de-France and the Oise - hence the name Valois of Val d'Oise , Valley of the Oise . The largest town in the Valois is Crépy-en-Valois .

In the early Middle Ages , the Valois formed the County of Crépy , the name of which was only transferred to County Valois in the course of time . With Count Karl I († 1328) and his descendants, Valois became the name of a younger line of the Capetians , the House of Valois , which with Philip VI. 1328 ascended to the French throne and on the side lines House Valois-Orléans and House Valois-Angoulême until the death of King Henry III. Ruled in 1589. From that time until the establishment of the departments during the French Revolution, the Valois was one of the historical provinces of France .

The community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Valois chose this landscape for its name.

The French party Parti radical valoisien , however, got its name from its Paris address (Place de Valois).
