The Vals Col is a mountain saddle in the east of the Adelaide Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . To the south of the Wright Peninsula lies north of Ryder Buttress and west of Reptile Ridge .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2004. It is named after the French ski resort Val-d'Isère . The reason for the naming is that the area around the mountain saddle is used as a ski area by scientists from the Rothera station .
