Jerónimo da Silva

Jerónimo da Silva is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of FRETILIN .

In the 2001 elections, Silva was elected to 18th place on the FRETILIN list in the Constituent Assembly, which became the National Parliament of East Timor when it was granted independence on May 20, 2002 .

In the assembly, Silva supported the proposal of an expanded text in the new constitution on Provedoria dos Direitos Humanos e Justiça , which clarified the importance of the Council in consolidating a culture of respect for human rights and justice. The proposal was unsuccessful through an amendment to ensure that the interpretation of the constitution and laws must be in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights .

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 , Amaral no longer stood as a candidate.
