Vampire is a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg that was formed in 2011.

history

The band was founded in 2011 by singer and drummer Lars “Hand of Doom” Martinsson ( The Legion ), guitarist Joel Stefan Eskil “Black String” Pälvärinne and bassist Pär Joakim “Command” Proos. A self-titled demo followed in September of the following year with an edition of 300 copies. This allowed the band to increase their awareness and hold more gigs. In January 2013, the demo was released as a single with an edition of 500 copies, with an additional song, on To the Death Records . Meanwhile, the group had already made their debut appearance in Copenhagen and also played at Live Evil, the Muscle Rock Festival and together with Repulsion in Oslo . With the latter, Vampire played the Bathory song The Reaper together on stage. The group then went to the Svenska Grammofonstudion to record the self-titled debut album, which was released by Century Media at the end of March 2014 . On the album Ratwing was heard as the new drummer, so that Martinsson could concentrate completely on the vocals.

style

In the rock-hard interview, Lars Martinsson named groups such as Possessed , Destruction , Autopsy , Sarcófago and bands of the Scandinavian black metal wave such as Emperor and Darkthrone as influences. According to Jan Jaedike from Rock Hard, the band play classic Death Metal on their debut album, which is heavily based on the works of Venom and Celtic Frost .
