Miasmal is a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg that was formed in 2007.

history

The band was formed in 2007 by singer and guitarist Pontus Redig and guitarist Magnus. Redi wrote the first song Abduction of the Soul a short time later , which should also be included on the group's 2008 demo. The demo was released in the spring of that year, but was to be re-released a little later on Detest Records . A little later, drummer Micael “Micke” Wennbom joined the line-up, followed a few months later by bassist Ruben Åhlander Persson. In 2010 an EP followed, which included two songs on Detest Records and Me Saco Un Ojo Records . The group made their first appearance in September 2010 at the Kill-Town Festival in Copenhagen . In April 2011 the group's debut album was released: The sound carrier was released on vinyl by Detest Records and Me Saco Un Ojo Records and on CD by Dark Descent Records . The CD version already contained EP and demo as bonus material. In May and June the band went on tour through the United States , including at the Maryland Deathfest . Björn Eriksson stepped in as a drummer. After the tour, however, he stayed in the band because Wennbom did not approve of long tour activities. A first three-week tour followed, which included appearances in eleven different countries, including outside of Europe . In April 2014 the band played a concert with Vampire and Chron's disease . The second album, Cursed Redeemer , was recorded in the Fredman studio and was released that same year. Almost two years later, in March 2016, the band released their third studio album, Tides of Omniscience .

style

According to the band biography on centurymedia.com , the band was influenced by death metal artists like Autopsy , Entombed and Bolt Thrower , as well as D-beat bands like the early Disfear . In the rock-hard interview with Jan Jaedike, singer and guitarist Redig also stated the strong D-beat influence on the band and named Discharge as an influence band . In his review of Cursed Redeemer, Jedike described the music as classic Swedish death metal, although the punk component was also quite high.
