The Van Loon are a Dutch patrician family who also belong to the nobility . During the 17th and 18th centuries, the family belonged to the Amsterdam regent patrimony.

history

The family came from the North Brabant Loon op Zand and was originally called "Molengraaff". In 1481 a branch of the family moved to 's-Hertogenbosch and was named "Van Loon" after its place of origin. In 1604 the family came to Amsterdam via Rotterdam , where they came into government in 1639. The sex was introduced into the new Dutch nobility in 1815 and 1882 with the predicate Jonkheer.
