The name Van der Goes appeared in the Delft region as early as the 13th century . The chronological series begins with Witte van der Goes and his son Mr. Aert van der Goes (1475–1545), the Dutch lawyer . Their descendants belonged to the Delft patriciate. In the 19th century the family was introduced into the new Dutch nobility. The branches with the title Baron are now extinct.
