Vanderlande is an international company in the field of automated material flow systems.

history

It all began with the establishment of the E. van der Lande machine factory in 1949. In the 1960s, the company established a joint venture with u. a. Rapistan from America and Vanderlande Industries became the license holder for this company's material flow technology. This enabled the company to take the first steps in what is now known as “automated material flow systems”. In the following years, the company expanded its field of activity from the Netherlands to Europe under the new name Rapistan Lande , with branches in several European countries. In addition, the character of the company changed from a product to a system supplier.

In 1988, the then management of Rapistan Lande decided on a management buy-out . The name was adapted and changed to Vanderlande Industries in 1989.

From this point on, a period of strong growth and further internationalization began for the company. The first steps outside of Europe were taken in the Far East and America , and the delivery of systems was supplemented by the delivery of the required IT components. Vanderlande has now also made a name for itself as a system integrator. In addition to the IT area, the areas of project management, innovation, engineering and the international supply chain were also significantly expanded. During this time, sales tripled and the number of employees doubled from 400 to 800.

In 2014 the company renamed Vanderlande.

Today Vanderlande is active worldwide and an important supplier of automated material handling systems and related support services. Vanderlande is the market leader for systems for baggage handling in airports and for sorting centers for express parcel services and is one of the five largest providers in the field of automation of distribution centers. Sales tripled again in the last ten years to around 2013 to over 740 million euros . Half of Vanderlande's more than 2,700 employees work outside the Netherlands.

In January 2012, the Beewen company was taken over by Vanderlande. Within the organization, Beewen forms the competence center for automated warehouse and shelf control systems.

Toyota Industries announced in March 2017 the acquisition of Vanderlandes from its previous owner NPM Capital , a subsidiary of SHV Holdings . The transaction was completed in May 2017.
