history

The automotive division, which was founded in 1933, was spun off into Toyota Motor Corporation in 1937 and holds 23.5% of Toyota Industries shares. Toyota Industries Corporation produces the Toyota Yaris / Vitz and Toyota RAV4 on behalf of Toyota Motor Corporation .

TICO is active in the fields of materials handling ( forklifts , warehouse technology and lifting platforms), automobiles (manufacture of vehicles and components), logistics and textile machines.

In 1998, a cooperation was initiated with the Swedish forklift manufacturer BT Industries AB (in Germany BT-Deutschland GmbH ) to expand the product range to include warehouse equipment. From then on, BT Industries AB produced these devices for Toyota worldwide under the Toyota brand. BT Industries had already acquired the US forklift manufacturer Raymond Corporation in 1997 and the Italian forklift specialist CESAB in April 2000 , before Toyota acquired a majority stake in BT in July of the same year. In April 2006, the two companies formed the Toyota Material Handling Group (TMHG) within the TICO Group. Since the merger of BT and Toyota, sales have risen steadily and since 2002 Toyota has been the world's largest forklift manufacturer ahead of the German Kion Group .

TMHG sells the brands Toyota, BT, CESAB, Raymond and Aichi, whereby the product range and the brands sold differ depending on the region. The Toyota, BT and CESAB brands are sold in Europe and the product range extends from pallet trucks to forklifts and tractors to narrow-aisle forklifts. Toyota Industries Equipment forklift trucks bear the same logo as the automobiles manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation .

In Germany, Toyota forklift trucks have been sold by Tomen Transportgeräte GmbH since 1971 and by Toyota Gabelstapler Deutschland GmbH in Duisburg , which belongs to the group, from 1993 . From then on, the forklifts were sold exclusively through a dealer organization. The BT Germany GmbH since 1964. BT products sales in Germany. Since April 1, 2007, Toyota and BT products have been sold by Toyota Material Handling Deutschland GmbH (TMHD), based in Isernhagen . With the merger, the two sales channels were also merged, so that Toyota forklifts and tractors as well as BT warehouse technology devices are sold in dual sales via the TMHD branches and through authorized dealers. In 2017, TICO took over the Dutch conveyor system manufacturer Vanderlande from NPM Capital, a subsidiary of SHV Holdings .

In addition, a 65% stake in TD Deutsche Klimakompressor GmbH (TDDK) in Straßgräbchen is owned by Toyota Industries . The other 35% is owned by Denso . There are compressors for car air conditioners manufactured.
