Vaneau is an underground station on line 10 of the Paris Métro .

location

The metro station Vaneau is located on the border of Quartier Notre-Dame-des-Champs in the 6th arrondissement, the Quartier Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin in the 7th arrondissement of Paris . It lies lengthways under the Rue de Sèvres at the level of the rue Vaneau which flows into it.

Surname

It is named after Rue Vaneau , which leads north from Rue de Sèvres . Louis Vaneau (1811-1830) was a student of the École polytechnique , who died in the nearby Rue de Babylone during the July Revolution of 1830 .

History and description

The station was put into operation on December 30, 1923 with the opening of line 10. This was then extended from Invalides to Croix-Rouge (closed since 1939). The section between the Invalides and Duroc stations is now served by line 13 .

It is 75 m long, lies under an elliptical vault and has two side platforms on two main tracks. The ceiling and the walls are tiled in white. The only entrance is in a small building outside the street, it is designed in the style of Art Deco .

Conventional MF 67 series trains run on Line 10 . Between 1975 and 1994 trains of the MA series ran , before that of the Sprague-Thomson type .
