Vaniyambadi is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . The city lies on the banks of the Palar .

The city is part of the Tirupattur District . Vaniyambadi has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 36 wards (constituencies).

Demographics

The city's population is 95,061 according to the 2011 census. Vaniyambadi has a gender ratio of 1023 women per 1000 men and thus a rare surplus of women for India. The literacy rate was 85.13% in 2011. Almost 56% of the population are Muslim , around 42% are Hindus and around 2% are Christians . Children under 6 years of age are 12.6% of the population.
