Vanna (also Vannøy ) is a Norwegian island north of the Arctic Circle . Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Karlsøy in the province of Troms og Finnmark .
The island of Vanna is 30 km long in north-south direction and a maximum of 16 km wide. Its area is 232 km². The island is almost divided into two parts by the bay of Skipsfjord and the Skipsfjordalen valley. It reaches its greatest height in Vanntinden in the southwest at 1031 m. Vanna is separated from the neighboring islands of Helgøy , Reinøy and Fugløy by the Hamrefjord, Vannsund and Fugløyfjord. In the east, the islands of Burøya , Lille Skorøy and Store Skorøy are upstream.
Important places are Torsvåg and Vannareid . The island is connected to Karlsøy and Hansnes by ferries . Speedboats operate to Tromsø , Nord-Lenangen and Skjervøy .
