The Vapor Col (English for steam saddle ) is a 150 m high mountain saddle in the west of Deception Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is south of Stonethrow Ridge .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1959 after the plumes of steam emerging from the fumaroles located here . The saddle is the only point of access for assessing the volcanic sequence on Deception Island.
