The Vardøtunnel is a single-tube road tunnel between Svartnes ( Vardø Airport ) on the mainland and Steilnes on the island of Vardøya in the municipality of Vardø in the province of Troms og Finnmark .
The tunnel along the European route 75 is 2,892 meters long. The deepest point is about 88 meters below the sea surface. It was the first Norwegian underwater tunnel and was opened by King Olav V (Norway) on August 16, 1983.
