Varel (Scheeßel)

Varel is a locality of Scheeßel in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) in Lower Saxony .

The Varel farm was a sovereign Vorwerk . Around 1700 Varel was one of the 31 localities in the parish of Scheeßel. The farm was parish off to Scheeßel. Varel was just under 2 km, about a quarter of a mile , north of the Scheeßel St. Lucas Church . A few years before 1774, the previously royal leasehold was given to the previous tenant after Meierrecht .

From 2014 to 2016, a total of 64 building plots were developed in Scheeßel in two building areas Vor dem Varel on former arable land between the localities of Scheeßel and Varel.

Vareler Heide

The Vareler Heide lies near Varel. This is an approximately 13 hectare undulating dune landscape between Scheeßel and Lauenbrück, also used for tourism . The state of having heather and juniper covered area is formed by a Heidschnucken herd and from sods obtained to the nutrient-rich soil.
