The Manseriche district is located in the Datem del Marañón Province in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The district was established on July 2, 1943. It has an area of ​​3566 km². At the 2017 census, 9,253 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 6454, in 2007 it was 9017. The administrative center is the small town of Saramiriza with 2694 inhabitants, 120  m high on the right bank of the Río Marañón . Saramiriza is located 50 km west-northwest of the provincial capital San Lorenzo .

Geographical location

The Manseriche district is located on the eastern flank of the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera on the western edge of the Peruvian Amazon in the central west of the Datem del Marañón province. The Río Marañón crosses the northern part of the district in an easterly direction. The district extends from the breakthrough valley Pongo de Manseriche in the west to a few kilometers below the confluence of the Río Yanapaga in the east. The north-west is drained by the Río Cangaza, the south-west and south by the Río Saramiriza and Río Yanapaga.

The district of Manseriche borders on the districts of Nieva and Río Santiago (both in the province of Condorcanqui ) in the west, on the district of Morona in the northeast and on the district of Barranca in the southeast .
