Products

Linear accelerator

Varian manufactures a range of megavoltage linear accelerators with varying levels of functionality and complexity, such as: B. different numbers of multi-leaf collimators or the possibility of performing radiosurgery.

TrueBeam is an advanced radiation therapy system designed from the ground up to deliver more powerful cancer treatments with pinpoint accuracy and precision. It integrates advanced imaging and motion management technologies into a sophisticated new architecture that enables treatments to be delivered more quickly while tumor movement is monitored and compensated, and opens the door to new possibilities for treating the lungs, chest, prostate, head and neck as well other cancers.

The EDGE radiosurgery suite was launched in 2012. The first cancer centers to use the new system were the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal and the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan.

In 2017, Varian introduced Halcyon, which aims to provide high quality care by optimizing rapid image-guided IMRT and RapidArc radiation therapy . The system has a unique two-layer MLC (Multi-Leaf Collimator) that enables high modulation with low dispersion for each field or each arc.

Proton therapy

Varian manufactures the ProBeam Proton Therapy System with current and planned installations at several locations worldwide, a fully pencil-beam scanning proton therapy system using IMTP (intensity-modulated proton therapy), which was developed with the Swiss Paul Scherrer Institute . Varian is also developing medical software and a radiology information system for the Proton Therapy Planning System.
