Vatican Media was established in 1983. It is used for the worldwide transmission of television images that document the work of the Pope and the activities of the Holy See .
There are live broadcasts , daily reports, productions. The transmitter has been an institution of the Roman Curia since 1996 and works according to the statutes of June 1, 1996, with the "universal proclamation of the Gospel" in the foreground. Overall management was entrusted to the Jesuits , who also provide the general director.
The produced recordings include the Angelus prayer , general audiences and other events and celebrations. The live broadcasts, for example of the Holy Father's pastoral trips , are broadcast by other Catholic television networks. The programs produced daily are also passed on to agencies and international television broadcasters; the broadcaster has its own copier for this purpose. Vatican TV also assists the press, recording teams and offers technical support.
The television productions mainly consist of documentaries and the weekly magazine "Octava Dies". The video library and archive has a large number of video cassettes and has had documentation since 1984 . Television broadcasters and production companies from all over the world use these archive recordings.
