Vegetation Island (from English vegetation ' vegetation ' ) is a small island about 3 km north of Inexpressible Island and west of the Northern Foothills in the Nansen Ice Sheet off the Scott Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land.
The island was discovered by the so-called northern group of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) led by the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott . The name was given by the thick lichen vegetation on the rocks on the island .
