Vegvisaren ( Norwegian for signpost , Japanese し る べ 島 Sirube Zima ) is an island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is halfway between the Japanese Shōwa station and Tottsuki Point on the north side of the Flatvær archipelago .

Norwegian cartographers mapped them in 1946 using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 . Japanese scientists mapped it again based on surveys carried out in 1957 and named it in 1988. Scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute translated this name into Norwegian in 1989.
