The Shōwa-Station or Syôwa Base ( Japanese 昭和 基地 , Shōwa-kichi ) is a research station of Japanese Antarctic exploration , which was founded in 1957 , in the 32nd year of the Shōwa period , on the East Ongul Island off the coast of the Antarctic Queen Maud Lands was established. From 1970 to 1985 research rockets of the types S-160 and S-210 were launched regularly from the Shōwa station .
