Velódromo Nacional
The Velódromo Nacional of Portugal is a multifunctional sports hall with a cycling track in the Portuguese municipality of Sangalhos in the district of Anadia , around 90 kilometers south of Porto . The carrier is the Portuguese cycling association FPC .
history
The hall was built in just 18 weeks in 2009 by a German company based on plans by the Portuguese architect Rui Rosmaninho .
2010 Here the UCI found Masters - track world championships held in 2011 and the Junior track European Championships, which were held also 2012-2014 there. In 2017 the UEC European Rail Championships for Juniors / U23 took place here, and the UEC European Rail Championships for Juniors / U23 in 2020 are also to take place here.
In February 2020, the European cycling association UEC announced that the Velodrome will in future have the status of a World Cycling Satellite Center .
Furnishing
The cycling track in the hall is 250 meters long, has a curve elevation of around 41 degrees and meets international standards. The hall is also intended for other sports, such as B. Judo or fencing. A small hotel with 16 rooms is attached to the hall.
Performance center
The Velódromo Nacional is a performance center ( Centro de Alto Rendimento , CAR) for four Portuguese sports federations:
- Cycling Federation Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo (FPC)
- Fencing Association Federação Portuguesa de Esgrima (FPE)
- Judo Association Federação Portuguesa de Judo (FPJ)
- Gymnastics Federation Federação de Ginástica de Portugal (FGP)
