Vendemmian is an English gothic rock band founded by Vendemmian Dave and Mark B. Douglas in late 1992 .

history

Dave and Mark B. Douglas left their old band Restoration in 1992 and placed an ad on Melody Maker to find a singer. The band found this in Dominic Upton. Soon after, they began to write new songs, which resulted in the first demo called "Vendemmian".

In early 1993 the band spent writing new songs and touring England extensively . Robi joined the band as a drummer and completed the line-up. Shortly thereafter, the band released their second demo, "Lords of Flame". Further appearances in September 1993 followed. Work also began on the first album "Between Two Worlds", which was released in 1993 on Resurrection Records. Shortly before the new album was released, Robi left the band and returned to his homeland, Italy , whereupon the band had to work with the drum computer again until the new drummer Russ King joined the band in early 1994. In the same year the band began writing for their second album. At the same time, singer Dominic Upton left the band and was replaced by Matt Wyatt. With this line-up, the band went to the St. Marks studio in London to record their second album "Through the Depths of Innocence". Following this studio work, the band played at the Sanctuary Club in London in July. A short tour to Germany and Austria followed.

At the beginning of 1995 the album "Treacherous" was released. This was followed by an extensive tour of Germany. After this tour and before the new album "Transition" was recorded, Russ King left the band, followed by Matt Wyatt. Despite an intensive search, no suitable replacement could be found, whereupon Douglas decided to take over the vocals.

The album "Transition" was released in early 1996. The band also played several concerts again and completed a tour of the USA and several concerts in Germany. In the same year the band also played at the Sacrosanct Festival in London's Astoria . At the same time the single "Wake You Up" came out. At the end of the year further gigs followed and the band began to work on the upcoming sixth album "One Eye Open". "One Eye Open" was released in March 1997, followed by a tour of the UK which ended at the Tower of Dublin . Then the band broke up.

In 2008 Douglas and Drum decided to play some concerts again and the album "One More Time" was released. In the following years the band played at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig in 2009 . In the same year, the limited live DVD "Drunk Stupid and Goth" was released on September 14th, which contains recordings of concerts in Norway , Finland and Germany.

Until 2011 the band can be seen live at irregular intervals. The new album will be released in April 2011 on Echozone .
