from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the series publications of the Central Institute of Ancient History and Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR in particular the results of ambitious wholesale and research projects have been of since 1973 until the end of the GDR Central Institute of Ancient History and Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR published. Many of these projects were created according to plan specifications by the academy's employees within a planned period of time, based on the planned economy in industry and agriculture. On the one hand, the strengths and knowledge of many employees were bundled, on the other hand, the space for individual research was massively restricted. Although many of the publications were well received in scientific circles and some works, such as Volume 4: “Die Germanen”, have the character of a standard work, the final judgment on these major projects is expressed by Wilfried Nippel : [that] created by collective authors over many years (still so respectable ) Representations must rather be seen as a squandering of the existing scientific capacities . In addition to the authors of monographs and the editors, the leaders of the author collective are given.
