Vera Rothamel

Vera Rothamel (born April 1, 1957 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss artist.

Career

Vera Rothamel completed a preliminary design course at the Lucerne School of Applied Arts after completing the teachers' seminar . In 1981 she studied at the University of the Arts in Berlin with Helmut Lortz , where she graduated in 1985 as a master class student.

Vera Rothamel works in Berlin, Lucerne and Zurich. She has had solo and group exhibitions in Germany, France, the USA and Switzerland. Her focus is painting and includes panel paintings, room installations, lithographs and works in public spaces. In 1991 she took part in the gold rush artist project. She is a member of VISARTE Central Switzerland.

Her statement “I am always a painter” refers to the fact that, in her opinion, all forms of expression such as room installation, architectural art, lithography and panel painting should always be read as different forms of the medium of painting.

She received scholarships from Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), the Senate Department for Cultural Affairs Berlin for the work Where are the painter princesses? and the Künstlerhaus Boswil .
