The Zündapp R 50 is a motor scooter ( small motorcycle ) which the Zündapp-Werke GmbH produced from 1964 to 1984.

It had a fan-cooled, slot-controlled single - cylinder two-stroke engine with a light metal cylinder and hard chrome raceway, mixed lubrication (1:25 or 1:50 from 1975) and magneto ignition . The engine was started with a kick starter. In the primary drive, the power was transmitted via gear wheels to a multi-plate clutch in the oil bath and a three-speed draw key gear with foot or optionally manual gear shifting and from there to the rear wheel. The chassis consisted of a tubular steel frame with a load-bearing light metal center piece, a front fork with short swing arms and coil springs, and a rear drive train swing arm with an encapsulated chain and oil-dampened struts. The scooter had interchangeable light alloy disc wheels with drum brakes.

From 1965 it was available in a more powerful version under the name Zündapp RS 50 Super ( light motorcycle ). The engine of this version developed 4.6 HP instead of 2.6 HP. The RS 50 Super weighed 84 kg when empty, was 1775 mm long and had a wheelbase of 1230 mm. According to the factory, the maximum speed was 65 km / h. In 1973 it cost DM 1,998.00. A year later the price rose to DM 2,199.00 and in 1975 to DM 2,309.00; in 1981 it was DM 2,950.00.
