The Zündapp KS 600 was a motorcycle model from the Zündapp works in Nuremberg .

Model history

The KS 600 appeared in 1938. In terms of the history of the model, it can be seen as a link between the previous models K 400, K 500, K 600, K 800, KS 500, KKS 500, KS 800 and the following models of the Zündapp KS 601 (Green Elephant) . All models of the K series (K = cardan drive) and the KS series (KS = cardan sport) were manufactured with pressed steel frames and were based on the principle of modularity .

Technical details

The machine had a two-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine with a British Amal carburetor , a 6- volt ignition light system, a multi-plate dry clutch , a four-speed gearbox and a cardan drive . According to the operating instructions, switching was carried out either by hand or by foot. The ignition could be adjusted manually. The front wheel hung on a trapezoidal fork with two compression springs and initially a friction shock absorber, later a hydraulic damper. In addition to the fork, only the saddle had two springs. The frame was rigid at the back.

The tank held 15 liters, which enabled a range of up to 300 kilometers with a consumption of around 5 liters per 100 kilometers. For operation in the field with a sidecar, around 10 liters was calculated. The tires were 3.5 × 19 ".
