The Association of Transport and Logistics Berlin and Brandenburg eV (VVL) is a registered association based in Berlin , which currently has around 150 "full members" with around 12,000 employees. It is listed in the register of associations at the Berlin-Charlottenburg District Court under the number VR 4965.

history

The association was founded on November 3rd, 1948 in Berlin as the "Association of the Berlin forwarding and furniture transport industry in the American and British sectors". The founding office was at Bergstrasse 91 ( Berlin-Steglitz ).

As early as 1947, some Berlin hauliers intended to set up a commercial organization. This was formed as the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Berliner Spediteure”, to which around 60 companies belonged. However, it had to cease its activities after a few months, as the political climate (occupied sectors of Berlin, the emerging political division in West and East and finally the blockade of the western districts of Berlin ) did not yet allow the formation of private employer organizations.

At the time of its founding, the association was only able to become active in the licensed sector due to the sector boundaries, despite another change of name to “Verein Berliner Spediteure eV” . The entire association received its approval from the magistrate on July 30, 1949.

Although two separate states existed after the establishment of the FRG and the GDR at the end of 1949 and the association was not approved for the Soviet sector, the private companies in the eastern part of Berlin and in the surrounding area played an active part in what was happening in the association. This only changed when the Wall was built in 1961 .

It was not until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 that the association was able to operate in the former eastern districts again. Due to the already at that time already close connection with the Brandenburg environs, the general meeting on November 13, 1990 renamed it to “Association of Freight Forwarders Berlin and Brandenburg eV”. Another renaming of the association to “Association of Transport and Logistics Berlin and Brandenburg eV” took place in the context of the general meeting 2004; this name has been entered in the register of associations since April 7, 2005.

In parallel to the association, the "Berlin-Brandenburgische Speditions-Servicegesellschaft mbH" (BSG) was founded at the beginning of 1996, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the association (HRB 59498). Its purpose is to enable effective marketing for the members of the association, but also to be able to be generally economically active. Today the area of education and training plays the main role in the activities of the service company. Through this, the association offers, for example, advanced training to become a certified specialist for freight transport and logistics and, through the BSG, is itself a training company for training as a clerk for freight forwarding and logistics services .
