The Association of Organic Supermarkets e. V. was a German association of organic supermarkets . The association was founded in early 2005 and existed until the end of 2011.
In 2011 it consisted of 11 organic trading companies: Alnatura , Basic , Bio Company , Dengel & Schwarz , Ebl-Naturkost , eo Komma , Füllhorn , Grüner Markt , SuperBioMarkt , Vitalia Reformhaus and Vollcorner BioMarkt . The prerequisite for membership in the association was an annual turnover of more than 4 million euros and at least two branches with at least 600 m² of sales area.
The aim of the association was to represent the interests of organic supermarkets and organic discounters in public, in relation to politics and associations. The interests of the association included the joint training of employees as well as joint public relations work , the exchange with wholesalers and logisticians and the partnership with manufacturers.
At the end of 2008 the association had a total of 169 organic supermarkets, the number of organized employees was 3467 in 2007, and that of apprentices was 310.
The association's headquarters were in Bickenbach , in the same building as the headquarters of the organic chain store Alnatura.
