The company has its origins in the macro store , which was founded in 1973 by Rainer Welke. The Makrohaus was one of the first 5 organic shops in Germany. In 1979 the second store with 130 m² was opened on Achtermannstrasse in Münster. Brother Egg Initiative

In February 2017, SuperBioMarkt AG, together with eight regional chicken farmers from North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, started the Bruder-Ei initiative for rearing male chicks, similar to Alnatura . Since SuperBioMarkt AG only sells eggs from small farms in the region of the locations, the demand for regionality and the promotion of small farms was combined with the solution of the problem of day-old chicks via a joint crowdfunding solution .
