In addition, the main concern of the VILF is to promote and train its members. In addition, numerous engineers are chemists , lacquer laboratory technicians , paint engineers and industry-related merchants Member.

history

The VILF was founded on November 6, 1955 by graduates of the Krefeld paint engineering school and entered in the register of associations at the Düsseldorf District Court on May 12, 1956. The seat was Düsseldorf. The founding board of the VILF consisted of the engineers Walter Ortmann, Rolf Rademacher and Hans Mosbach.

In the year it was founded, VILF had 27 active members. In 1959 (Krefeld-Düsseldorf) and 1962 (Cologne) the first district groups were founded and the first lecture events took place in Cologne. After ten years of existence in 1966, the association had 174 personal and 11 company members. The Stuttgart district group was founded in 1968. This included the two German locations in Krefeld and Stuttgart with their technical colleges for paint-specific engineering training. In 1980 the Paderborn district group opened. The 25th anniversary of the VILF association at the beginning of 1981 was celebrated with 234 members.

In 1984 the trade magazine “ Farbe und Lack” was introduced as a subscription subscription for members.

After German reunification, two new district groups (Berlin / Brandenburg and Leipzig / Gera) were added.

In 1994 the number of members was approx. 400 people. The first VILF office was set up in Odenthal (North Rhine-Westphalia). It was relocated to Coesfeld in 1999 .

In 1998 the number of members was around 600. The first VILF conference proceedings were published on the occasion of the first annual VILF annual conference organized in Rödermark.

A member survey on joining the European umbrella organization FATIPEC in 2009 resulted in approval and the application for membership by a large majority.

The 60th anniversary in 2015 was celebrated in the Huguenot Hall in Neu-Isenburg. More than 360 participants, together with founding member Rudolf Kramer and honorary members Jürgen Gnest, Werner Frank and Jürgen Heupel, took part in both the two-day conference and the VILF festival activities.

organization

The VILF is organized in a nationwide organization and 5 regional district groups. The first chairman of the VILF is Ludger Küper, who is led by Jorge Prieto and Dr. Heinz-Günther Schulte will be represented.

The district groups are in detail:

  • Leverkusen
  • Münsterland-Lippe (MOL)
  • North
  • Rhine-Main
  • Stuttgart

Professional cooperation

On a technical level, there are cooperations with the Society of German Chemists (specialist group paint chemistry, formerly APi paints and pigments), the Nuremberg Interest Group Paint (NIL), the Association Française des Techniciens des Peintures, Vernis, Encres D'Imprimerie, Colles et Adhésifs (AFTPVA, French Paint Association ) and the Swiss Association of Paint and Paint Chemists (SVLFC).

VILF is also represented in the European paint association CEPE .

The VILF maintains contacts with the universities of Lower Rhine (formerly Krefeld) and Esslingen (after changing the course from Stuttgart ) and the University of Paderborn . To date, these are the only universities in Germany that offer a degree as chemical engineer or chemist in the field of paint chemistry , although there is still a strong shortage of skilled workers in the industry. In addition, the VILF promotes cooperation with the technical college for paint technology (School for Color and Design, Stuttgart), which regularly trains state-certified paint technicians for the job market.

activities

According to the statutes, one focus of the activities is the further training of association members. The annual conference with a large number of lectures takes place in November, which is considered the technical highlight of further training and networking throughout the industry. In addition to the annual conference, the individual district groups organize lecture events of a local nature.

The membership fee includes a subscription to the trade journal “ Farbe und Lack” . The paint and varnish is also the official publication organ of the SVLFC and the VILF and the specialist group “Paint chemistry (formerly APi paints and pigments)” of the Society of German Chemists.
