Farbe und Lack (spelling: FARBE UND LACK) is a monthly trade journal for the lacquer industry that is published by the Vincentz Network .

Paint and Varnish is the official organ of the paints and pigments specialist group of the Society of German Chemists , the Swiss Association of Paint and Paint Chemists (SVLFC) and the Association of Paint and Paint Engineers (VILF). In the German-speaking area, the paint and varnish is the most important trade journal for paint professionals.

In principle, the target group is all employees and managers in the paint industry, including raw material manufacturers and paint processors. In addition to the technically oriented specialists, commercially oriented employees are also addressed. The magazine fits perfectly into the portfolio of the Vincentz Network, which has also published many paint-specific specialist books.

The magazine first appeared in 1893, at that time still with the name addition Zentralblatt der Farben- und Lackindustrie und der Handel . Under the name Lack- und Farben-Zeitschrift: Zentralorgan für d. entire varnish, paint, varnish u. Leimfabrikation appeared from April 1943 to September 1944 so-called war editions, which were published in Berlin. With the exception of 1946, the paint and varnish appeared throughout. From 1979 the special volume Color and Lacquer Address Book , published every two years and since 2007 Color and Lacquer Buying Guide , was added. The paint and lacquer edition , on the other hand, contains individual specialist books published in German.

Technical article

In terms of content, research and development topics from the paint sector are dealt with in multi-page specialist articles, but also topics from the areas of paint production and paint raw materials. Since 1989 the paint and paint prize has been awarded to young researchers for outstanding scientific work in the field of paint research. The prize has been awarded over 20 times so far. The winning entry was published exclusively. Since no suitable winner was found in 2009, the winner has been determined by an Internet vote by readers of the magazine. One specialist article by young authors is published each month and rated on the journal's website.
