European Coatings Show
The European Coatings Show (short: ECS , own spelling: European Coatings SHOW ) is the world's largest trade fair for the paint industry . It takes place every other year in Nuremberg and lasts three days. The organizer is Vincentz Network GmbH & Co. KG , the trade fair company is NürnbergMesse . Parallel to the fair is the two-day symposium European Coatings Conference held. The next date for the European Coatings Show is 19–21. March 2019.
history
The first European Coatings Show took place in 1991 under the name Farbe + Lack '91 - The European Coatings Show . At the premiere, 4,151 visitors were counted on the three days of the fair. At that time, 26% of the visitors came from abroad. On the exhibitor side, 266 companies from 14 countries were listed, occupying an exhibition area of 10,400 m² (gross) and 5,300 m² (net) in two halls. In the first year, the European Coatings Conference took place parallel to the trade fair , at that time still under the name European Coatings Congress .
Exhibitors
The majority of the exhibitors are provided by the suppliers of the coatings industry and related industries . This includes the manufacturers of typical paint raw materials such as binders , pigments , solvents and additives , as well as the manufacturers of laboratory and production technology such as extruders , dissolvers or bead mills and test equipment typical for paints . The professional associations and paint-specific universities and technical colleges are also represented .
The 2017 trade fair gathered 1,135 exhibitors (2015: 1,024) on a net exhibition area of around 37,000 m². The share of international exhibitors was two thirds. After Germany, China presented itself with the most exhibitors, followed by Italy, the Netherlands and Great Britain.
Visitors
In 2017, 30,198 trade visitors came to the fair (2015: 28,481). The share of international trade visitors was 64%. The visitors are in particular formulators of lacquers and paints, suppliers of raw materials, formulators of adhesives and sealants, industrial processors and representatives from science and research.
European Coatings Conference
The European Coatings Conference (until 2015: European Coatings Congress) takes place parallel to the fair and focuses on the exchange of knowledge between companies and science. The visitors exchange ideas in the context of lectures and poster sessions . The 2017 edition gathered 840 participants from around 50 countries. For the best contribution to the conference, the European Coatings Journal is donating the European Coatings Show Award, endowed with € 2,000 and a sculpture .
Other coatings trade shows
In addition to the European Coatings Show, NürnbergMesse and Vincentz Network are also involved in the American Coatings Show (ACS) in Indianapolis and PAINTINDIA in Mumbai. The ACS has been held every two years since 2008. In 2016, 552 exhibitors and around 9,500 visitors took part in the event.
There are other trade fairs on the subject of coatings: The Latin American Coatings Show (LACS) takes place every second year in Mexico City . The Middle East Coatings Show (MECS) takes place annually, but alternately in Cairo , Egypt and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates . The Asia Pacific Coatings Show (APCS) has been held in Singapore since 1990 .
